A Nexus of Art and Creativity

Boasting such amenities as a chapel, recording studio, and ample workspace, artists can find the room to grow in their expressions. The opportunity for collaboration and collectivism are core tenants to the evolution of the space and its residents. A balance of self-reliance and social support creates an environment conducive to fostering confidence and agency.

Meet the artists who make the Convent Art House home.

History

Originally constructed as a Spanish style nunnery for the Sacred Heart Church in 1936. After serving 20 years as a shelter for victims of domestic abuse, artists took over the space in 2010 before a decade of organic growth and education. Restructured in 2020 under new management

The Space

Outside of their rooms, The Convent residents share a kitchen, dining room, chapel, basement, laundry, music rooms, and roof. Studio spaces become available as artists transition back out into the world.
